My Choice for Liverpool’s Next Manager

When Roy Hodgson “leaves” the team whether it is soon or next season (I have a feeling that he will be staying for this season unless the team continues losing), my replacement would be Andre Villas Boas.

Andre Villas Boas is in his first year manager at FC Porto, and he is only 33.  He is right now undefeated with Porto and the team look set into winning the Portuguese League.  He is a guy that has no professional football playing experience and was once an assistant for Jose Mourinho.  Some people consider him the next Mourinho.  The slight problem is that he does not have much managing experience except for this year, and he just recently extended his contract at Porto until 2013.  However, contracts kind of meaningless in today’s football world.  If NESV wants a young, tactical manager, Andre Villas Boas is a very good choice.

Roy Hodgson and Jed York Needs To Go

Roy Hodgson is a low level manager that cannot beat a last place team with the team making no improvement in sight.  Liverpool should have hired a Pelligrenni or something.  At least it would be attacking football if nothing worse.

Jed York is an owner that does not know anything about football.  Hiring Trent Balke as your GM after saying you will do a national GM search.  Terrible.  Both Liverpool and 49ers rosters and staff suck with no hint of positive in sight.

Sports News/Stuff: 12/22/2010

I haven’t been writing much in this lately due to laziness and nothing to write.  So I guess from now on, MAYBE, I will be posting news on random stuff, mainly soccer and continue posting humorous videos.

FOX Renews U.S. Rights for the UEFA Champions League until 2015

Basically FOX is keeping everything the same except with 3 new additions:

  • FSN/regional sports network will also get one match on Wednesday including the one they already have on Tuesday.
  • FX will have 2 out the 4 semi-final matches.
  • FOX will broadcast the UEFA Champions League Final Match.

I would have liked ESPN to get one or two matches, but I doubt FOX is going to sublicense with them for the Champions League.

MLS Wants $20 Million a year from FOX for TV Rights

I don’t know what MLS is smoking when they demanded this much money for TV rights of a league that has been decreasing in viewership every year unless they are using the U.S. World Cup rights as leverage.

Other Stuff

  • Liverpool is an inconsistent team with a poor squad and would be lucky to qualify back in Europa League.  Roy Hodgson is not the right fit for them, but I have a feeling that he will stay til the end of the season.  After that John Henry and NESV will let him go and find their own guy.
  • San Francisco 49ers is just awful.  Fire Mike Singletary and cut Alex Smith.  A part of me is hoping they do not make it to the playoff because they certainly do not deserve to be in it.  Also, I do not want them to give others false hope that it was a decent season.
  • Golden State Warriors.  Ehh… typical Warriors.  Not much to say about them.
  • I know this is late, and I would of wrote a length post if it was not this late, but congratulations to the San Francisco Giants. Fear the Beard. :)

Edit: I know this is basically not going to happen, but I really really hope that Inter hires Diego Maradona as their manager.
