Durarara!! Anime Review

Studio: Brain’s Base

Director: Oomori Takahiro (Baccano!, Natsume Yuujinchou)

Music: Yoshimori Makoto (Baccano!, Natsume Yuujinchou)

From the same author that wrote Baccano!, he comes up with another great story about a wide array of characters and their actions somehow being connected  together in the neighborhood of Ikebukuro.  With basically the same staff that did Baccano! anime, this was one of the anime I was looking forward to watching before it has even aired, and it did not disappoint.  I was very impressed with the storyline and found the show to be very entertaining.  I cannot wait to watch episode 12.5 and 25 that will is going to be packaged in the 7th volume of the DVD and last volume of the DVD respectively.  I recommend this as a must watch.  With the good sales of the DVDs and light novels, hopefully this would lead to a Baccano! season 2, Durarara!! season 2, and or Vamp!

Music: Takanashi Yasuharu (Mononoke, Toward the Terra)

Synopsis: *Based on Ono Fuyumi and Fujisaki Ryuu’s Shiki horror mystery manga.

Sotobamura is a small village with around 1300 inhabitants. It is a village which is connected to not even a single highway. An isolated village in which old customs, such as the burial of the dead, are still practiced.

One day, the corpses of 3 persons are found. Although Ozaki Toshio, the village’s lone doctor, feels uncertain, he treats the deaths as normal occurrences. However, in the days following, the villagers die one after the other.

Is this mere coincidence, an epidemic, or something else entirely?
